Fast Pace Logistics, the Swansea-based delivery and logistics business, is bringing its fleet maintenance in-house. Boost Finance secured a £105,000 GGS loan under the government’s Growth Guarantee Scheme to fit out and equip a dedicated commercial vehicle workshop in South Wales.

About Fast Pace Logistics

Founded in 2021, Fast Pace Logistics delivers for several of the UK’s best-known carrier networks. From its Swansea base it runs a fleet of more than 60 vans, including Sprinters, Luton vans and Transit XLWBs, across Cardiff and South Wales.

In under five years the business has grown fast, and in 2026 it was named Swansea Bay Start-Up Business of the Year.

The challenge: outside repairs were costly and slowed the fleet down

With 60+ vans on the road every day, maintenance is constant: servicing, tyres, bodywork and repairs. Fast Pace was sending all of it to outside garages and bodyshops. That meant:

  • A repair bill of around £100,000 a year, and rising as the fleet grew
  • Vans off the road while they waited for a slot at someone else’s workshop, which matters when delivery networks measure your performance every day
  • More of the same to come, as new contracts added more vehicles to the fleet

The directors’ answer was to take on a 5,500 sq ft unit and build their own commercial vehicle workshop. The unit was a bare shell, so it needed everything: power, flooring, insulation, ramps, a spray booth and a full set of workshop equipment.

Why the Growth Guarantee Scheme

The Growth Guarantee Scheme is a government-backed scheme run through the British Business Bank. Under GGS, the government provides the lender with a guarantee on part of the loan, which can make lenders more willing to support growing businesses with investment like this.

It was a strong fit for Fast Pace:

  • A clear growth purpose: equipment and fit-out that reduce costs and add capacity
  • A young but profitable business: trading since 2021, with a strong track record
  • Mixed costs: fit-out work such as electrics, flooring and insulation can’t be funded on standard asset finance alone, but a GGS loan can cover it

How Boost secured the funding

We met the directors face to face, then put together a detailed proposal for underwriters. It set out the business, its contracts, the itemised cost of the workshop, and how the savings on outside repairs would cover the repayments.

Because the workshop replaces around £100,000 a year of outside repair costs, the repayments are covered by the savings alone, before the workshop earns a penny from other operators. That made the case clear for the lender.

The result was a £105,000 GGS loan, paid out a few weeks after our first conversation with the directors.

What the workshop means for the business

  • Lower running costs: around £100,000 a year of repairs, servicing and bodywork that used to go to outside garages comes in-house
  • Less downtime: vans are back on the road faster, protecting delivery performance
  • Room to grow: the workshop scales with the fleet as new contracts come in, alongside the vans themselves, which are funded through commercial vehicle finance
  • A new income stream: the workshop can also service vehicles for other operators in South Wales
